FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ's)

Q. Does your company conduct regular safety meetings? Who conducts them? When and where are they held? Who is required to attend?

A. Safety meetings are conducted on a weekly basis on our projects. Typically, our Foremen conduct the meetings. However, on larger projects a Superintendent may conduct the meeting. Meetings are normally held on Monday mornings at the beginning of the shift. All personnel on the project are required to attend the meetings and we encourage employee participation and input at the meetings. In addition, all our Foremen attend formal monthly safety meetings with our safety department as well as quarterly with our insurer.

Q. Does your company conduct project safety inspections? Who conducts them and how often?
A. All Forman and Superintendents conduct project safety inspections on a monthly basis. However, all of our supervisors are continually looking for and correcting any hazards that may exist on a daily basis. In addition, our full-time safety professional and Loss Control/Insurance representatives also conduct regular safety audits.

Q. What facilities and program will your company have in place to handle emergencies?

A. On all projects, we have personnel that are First Aid and CPR trained to handle any emergencies that may arise. Furthermore, we establish a relationship with physicians and a clinic nearby to handle any cases that require advanced medical treatment.

Q. Describe the trash collection-containment-disposal program you intend to incorporate throughout the duration of the project.

A. At SASCO, we preplan each work area for proper staging of construction materials including the disposal of waste. Our crews will stage debris out of the way throughout the workday so it will be properly removed from the work area at the end of the shift.

The Project Manager and/or Superintendent on the project will have the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the public is free of any hazards that may be created. At SASCO, we will implement several controls to protect the public, as they become necessary. Additionally, our Safety Department will be actively involved in public protection. Public safety is a prime concern at SASCO.

Q. How will the project safety program be integrated in the Owner's/General Contractor's safety management program?

A. It is SASCO's goal to strive for excellence in our safety program management, and we continually exceed the most stringent health and safety requirements, whether they are requirements of our client, OSHA, or our own program.

Q. What program does your firm use to encourage employees to use safety equipment and follow proper safety procedures? How do you encourage subcontractor employees to do the same?

A. SASCO employees are given extensive safety orientation when they start work. During this orientation, employee rights, responsibilities, and expectations are clearly defined, and we aggressively reward employees for positive safety performance.

We also have an established progressive disciplinary action program for non-compliance.

Subcontractor compliance is established through a contractual obligation to provide safety on the project.
