MANAGEMENT OF COST
SASCO is one of the most successful electrical contractors in the country for the simple reason that we manage costs better than any other contractor. Our profitability and growth have been consistent because we control costs. We do not rely on past successes to ensure future achievement. It is unnecessary for us to rely upon any single successful job to offset less than successful projects. By proactively forecasting and controlling risk and identifying the potential problems in advance, the customer and SASCO benefit, resulting in some of the lowest completed construction cost in the industry.
Our cost management philosophy is simple: manage costs at the individual task level first, which ultimately results in cost control for the overall project. The Work Breakdown Structure creates an environment where accountability for budget and schedule is easily established. The various team members efficiently monitor cost control. Ultimately, the team can be reviewed and rewarded accordingly.
Through regularly scheduled project reviews, each job is individually evaluated. The project management teams are then able to immediately identify any negative trend, initiate the appropriate solution, and influence the outcome of the job in a timely and positive fashion. We have found that this approach allows us to influence outcomes rather than be victim to them. Any valuable lessons are easily documented and incorporated into the next project.
