SASCO is providing electrical construction services for the new Regional Medical Center of San Jose. Located in San Jose, CA, this OSHPD, four story patient tower, and build-out of the existing second floor shell space project includes a 138,000 square foot patient tower and 40,000 square feet of renovations.
The new expansion includes: 32 med/surgery beds, 32 post-partum beds, 26 bassinet newborn nursery beds, an eight-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), and a central utility plant. The renovation portion includes expansion of the Cath lab, endoscopy, recovery, surgery (including three operating rooms), ICU, and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) areas. The expansion increases the Level II capacity from six to 10 beds, adds a dialysis area, and miscellaneous support services.
Electrical and low voltage services include; primary power, secondary distrubution, generator back up, voice/data, security, nurse call, fire alarm and CCTV. The accelerated construction schedule has been possible through a highly organized jobsite, extensive use of BIM technology, and the SASCO pre-fabrication and assembly processes.
All construction is taking place in an operational hospital without interruption to the daily activities–a clear tribute to careful planning and excellent communications between all trades.
